Step 9 – Build the website

This is what most people think it is all about, but it is actually pretty simple – it just takes time and experience to do it well. You have designed the structure of the site, you have got lots of content prepared, it just needs to all be put together.

If you are planning to DIY, you have another step to complete – lots of reading of manuals etc and experimentation before you start building the real thing.

Here’s a tip – don’t build it on a live domain name, build it on a sub-domain, or better still, a totally different domain.

Here’s another tip – it doesn’t have to be perfect to start with. The great thing about websites is that it is relatively easy to make changes, but you must have good change control processes.
